What can I expect?
'Kini's LegaSea is a US Coast Guard inspected sailing catamaran with a roomy cockpit, spacious salon, and private "head" (bathroom). Relax on the wide-open bow in comfortable bean-bag cushions, or roam the deck and cockpit asking lots of nautical questions — our captain and crew tailor the experience to you.

Will we actually sail?​
Absolutely—that’s always the goal! Unless Mother Nature isn’t cooperating, we’ll set the sail (and shut off the engines) so you can experience the pure joy of sailing. There’s nothing quite like gliding along our peaceful waterways with only the sound of the wind around you and a champaign wake trailing behind.​

Will we see dolphins and other wildlife?
More than likely! Guests often spot dolphins, manatees, pelicans, roseate spoonbills, ospreys, and even bald eagles. And for extra fun, our “Admiral” loves to share fascinating wildlife and coastal facts along the way.
Where are you located?
'Kini's LegaSea sails from Jacksonville Beach, near US-90 and the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). After booking, we’ll send detailed directions and parking info.

How many can come sail?
The catamaran comfortably holds up to six guests — you and five others are welcome to enjoy the sailing lifestyle with us.

What should I bring?

Sunscreen: Mineral-based, no spray.

Appropriate Clothing: Dress for the weather — hats, light layers for hot days, warm layers for cooler evenings.

Food & Drinks: We provide light snacks (cheese and crackers tray), water, and sodas, but you’re welcome to bring your own. Please avoid items that could stain, such as dark-colored foods or drinks, red wine, or messy snacks. For added convenience, we also offer light catering and premium beverages as a small upgrade.

Is it customary to tip the crew?
This is at the guest's discretion. A 10–20% cash tip on the base charter is appreciated. Our behind-the-scenes crew works hard to customize your experience. Venmo @makingwavesgroup is available, if preferred.
​​​I booked my charter, what's next?
You’ll receive a confirmation email with your date, time, and dock instructions (check your spam). Plan to arrive a few minutes early. Have questions? Please feel free to call us at 904.472.1859 or email info@makingwavesgroup.com. ​

I have a Sunset Sailing charter; will my departure time change?
Possibly. Sunset times vary daily, so your initial online booking time is a placeholder. You’ll receive an additional email that will provide your actual departure time calculated for sunset that day.

Can I extend more time to my sailing package?
Absolutely! If our standard packages don’t quite fit what you’re looking for, just mention your preferred time/duration when booking ("Add your message") and we’ll check availability and provide an updated price. You can also add extra time during your sail—simply pay on board via Venmo @makingwavesgroup.
Anything else available to add to my experience?
Yes! We offer optional upgrades to make your time on the water even more enjoyable. For example, guests can choose light catering with premium beverages, so you don’t have to worry about packing a cooler - and for cruises over 3 hours, you can add a paddleboard to enjoy some extra adventure during your sail.​
What happens if there is inclement weather?
If weather becomes a safety factor - at the discretion of the captain - we will do our best to contact you regarding options before you make it to the boat. At that time, you can choose to schedule for a later time at no cost or request a full refund.

What if I need to cancel?
No risk and no questions. Cancel anytime up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund. After that, a 50% fee may apply at the captain’s discretion.​
